Ideally you really only want one exclusive method of Inverter control (WW or App or Portal?), otherwise conflicts are bound to occur.
I very much doubt that the issues that you describe are down to AIO Firmware revision. I would though contact GE and ask them to activate the Customer Firmware upgrade option, which can then be found (when activated) on your AIO's "Software" tab in the portal. You will then be able to upgrade to Firmware AO.618 at your convenience, though it may well re-calibrate your batteries, so be prepared for that (suitable time etc).
To be sure of root cause of the issues you are describing, I would reset all the settings in the app and portal to defaults. Then test again using WW exclusively. Report back here your results and post a screen grab of the portal command sequences. This will enable @admin, and other users here to understand the situation and advise accordingly.
