johalareewi Easily. You plug your car in, ask for a % SOC that is completely beyond the scope of your charger to achieve in the time window and Octopus goes for it, trying to meet the ask. I have repeatedly requested a date selector on the Time selector in the Charging Preferences window. But they have yet to offer that option, so you either need to 'manage' what SOC each 24-hour period brings, or Octopus will try to meet the demand on your selection.
Now, I personally care about the impact I am having on the system, that is why I went down the route of EV, home battery and solar panels that supply my office setup to minimise my grid impact - but there of course others that would seek to screw the system and make as much profit from their investment no matter what the impact upstream. That is, of course, their prerogative, but Octopus are now just letting folks know they know that they are taking advantage. I just hope we don't all lose the fabulous IOG tariff in its current form because of a few greedy takers.
Rant, definitely over.....
