Enable AC Charge Upper % Limit being set to on

Recently I have noticed that when doing an AC battery charge and the battery SOC reaches 100%,, the inverter stops charging and switches back to battery. Normally it would keep trying to charge the battery until WW turned off the AC charge.
Checking the inverter settings I noticed that "Enable AC Charge Upper % Limit" was turned on and the limit was 100%. This would normally be off so I turned it off.
Later I noticed it had been turned back on and in the remote history, this had been done by WW.

johalareewi That's not a recent change we've made. So if you're seeing a difference in behaviour it's related to anything we've done.

This has been in place for yonks.

I will keep an eye on it.
Not had any updates on the GE gear so not sure why the behaviour has changed.
I will do some digging in the GE logs to see if any clues.
I have a few BMS messages so maybe a recalibration is needed?

Looks like it is an "interesting" inverter operation.
There have been some battery wobbles since late December.
I have done a soft recalibration which has smoothed things out a bit.
What is happening now is that the battery will charge up to 100% then the inverter will switch to running from the battery for a while then go on-grid. All while WW has sent an AC charge instruction.
In the GE fault log, there is a BMS high voltage message at the time that the inverter goes from charging the battery to running from the battery.

My guess is the inverter is bleeding off the overvoltage from the battery until it is happy, then resumes normal operation.

Mine has been like this for ages - I spoke with GE about it and they called it ‘oscillation’.

They advised that wonder watt should set a rule so that if a user has request 100%, then the ac charge upper limit should be set to ‘off’ to stop this happening

Yes exactly - but with wonder watt if I ask for 100% charge in wonder watt, it turns it to on. This causes my gen1 inverter and battery to charge to 100%, the batter then stops charging and after a while it discharges to house load down to roughly 96-97%, then starts charging again back to 100%.

This cycle goes on and on until the wonderwat session ends.

Give have said the only way to stop this is for wonderwatt to specify ac charge limit setting to be ‘off’ when the user asks for 100%.

If I search for information on Enable AC Charge Upper % Limit, it seems that what it does changes depending on which GE inverter and firmware version you are on.
Would be handy if there was a WW advanced setting to have this off all the time rather than WW turning it on.
Then if your inverter wants it off, it can stay off.

johalareewi Makes sense yeah. There's been too many times we changed something for one or two users, and then affected a lot more users, due to inverter model/firmware combos doing something undesirable.

I have a Gen1 inverter and with hold set it stays at 100% no problem.
