Hi, I have an opportunity to make a great deal on a SPH-3000 (original non BL-UP model) and an ML33RTA battery. I'd like to know if I could use this inverter as an AC coupled charger to an existing setup. This thing is I have an existing solar setup but it's quite far away from the house and it's impractical to run new cables such as the CT sensor for example.
So my idea is to have the inverter and battery in the house near the main breaker box, install the CT clamp that comes with it on the main line and set it so it will only charge the battery when the inverter sees the power being fed back to the grid from the existing solar system without having a solar panel connection to it.
Basically make the inverter only act as an AC battery retrofit system and also as a backup power generator in case of a grid blackout.
Is it doable?
