I had an issue last weekend where my regular scheduled evening export finished but my GivEnergy batteries appeared paused (all house power being drawn from grid). On checking my GivEnergy hybrid inverter Eco was disabled, but re-enabling it failed to kick the batteries into life. Restarted the Inverter via the GivEnergy portal twice failed to resolve, and only a physical power off/on of the Inverter and batteries eventually started the batteries providing power to the house. I contacted GivEnergy support on Monday and they said there were no issues with their equipment but it must be an issue with Wonderwatt and the API and suggested I disable the schedule. I didn't believe this but I did disable it last night and ran a manual export which worked fine. Obviously this isn't a full test but wonder if anyone can advise more on this please?

@"J1m"#p5125 What is your WattID please? You should find it at the bottom of the Advanced section. When did this start happening for you? After you ran a successful export with WW? We can see if we can locate the issue from our diagnostics logs.

Thanks for getting back to me. My Watt ID is neat-permission I have been running my exports via Wonderwatt for several weeks, mostly without issue. The last successful one was last Thursday I think. I should have mentioned that on Friday last, GivEnergy updated my Inverter firmware and battery firmware. Because the batteries were recalibrated overnight on Friday i did stop the nightly Wonderwatt battery charge that night. I had the issue where the batteries were 'paused' on Saturday and Sunday night following the scheduled export. GivEnergy are adamant that there are no issues with the Inverter or batteries and asked me to stop Wonderwatt, so I paused all schedules last night and used the GivEnergy app 'quick settings' to manually export - which worked and the batteries resumed supplying the house load when I cancelled the export. I've done the same this evening and again it's worked fine. I wonder if, because the firmware has been updated I should regenerate the API and reconfigure Wonderwatt, but I'm clutching at hairs I suppose!

@"J1m"#p5129 We can't see anything obvious wrong to be honest. We have a successful export for you for Sunday afternoon from 16:30 - 20:13, see our diagnostics log. We also spotted a charge instruction on Sunday night into Monday morning. Are you only having issues with discharges/exports? Could you at least enable a timed charge and test this out? If that all works, you could then try a 10 min export or so. Additionally, when you create an export via the Giv app, could you show us the Giv inverter logs for the export please? We have a suspicion something may have been changed with Giv's implementation of the API wrt Timed Discharges and Timed Exports and treating these differently for different Giv inverter / firmware combos.

Charging via WW schedule has been working fine. I can try scheduling a WW export tomorrow, unfortunately I've no got much battery charge left this evening. I will re-enable my WW overnight charge tonight, then set my WW export to run again tomorrow evening and report back. Should I try regenerating the GivEnergy API and resubmit it in the WW config first? Regarding the log, I'm appending the GivEnergy log for the manual export I did yesterday between 18:16 and 22:20. Hopefully that is what you wanted? It does seem to repeat several commands but I did only set the app to export then 'play' once! @"J1m"#p5132 if charging works via WW, there’s no need to regenerate a Giv API key, it wont make a difference, as the API key permissions is not that granular. We’ll dig through the logs and get back to you.

Changes have been made by Giv about what Timed Discharge vs Timed Export does on these different versions. See below. I would have expected a change like this to have affected quite a few more users on Giv systems when running exports via WW, so this may be just a red herring. The log message in Giv does say "Discharge at full power", not "Timed Export" at full power.

@"J1m"#p5147 It will be the inverter firmware that could be the issue here. ~~We'll try and see if we can change just your Timed Discharge to a Timed Export, and see if this works. We can then use a setting/toggle in Advanced "Use Timed Export instead of Discharge".~~ Actually, scratch that, can't see any Timed Export slots in the settings.

@"J1m"#p5129 Have you tried a basic "Quick Export" from WW home dashboard? You can stop that manually once you confirm it is working after 10 mins.

Thank you for your persistence in helping me with this. I hadn't noticed the quick export option on the dashboard. I set it running and stopped it after ten minutes as you suggested, and it worked fine and re-enabled Eco mode afterwards. My batteries are resuppling the house load as expected. Unless there is anything different with the way a scheduled export runs then it looks like it was just some weird anomaly. I will try a scheduled export later. I can't understand though why this happened, and why it was so difficult to get things back to normal despite inverter reboots etc. It wouldn't appear to be a WW issue though!! Thanks again...

Problems with export via GivEnergy

J1m Ha, yeah, it's an interesting workaround, but ideally, we'd address the problem differently.

I guess in theory we can send the instruction after your export should have started. Which should then start straight away from the inverters PoV.

But if we're changing that around, that would require a fair bit of testing, and the way we have our scheduler functions running is mainly looking ahead just prior and sending the instruction, which for inverters other than Giv is no issue.

For now though, we've brought down the time the export instruction is sent from 5 mins prior to 1.5 mins prior to start. That's deployed now. (Server side change only)

admin Just to update on this, I ran my schedules last night and there were gaps of less than a minute, and less than half a minute between Eco being switched off and the start of my exports! I've noticed that my AIO Timed Export toggle was off, but AFAIK that's always been the case.

@admin can you please take a look? The instructions are in the log, but the inverter never responded.
Edit: I can see the charge instruction, but it's still not exporting
I suspect it might be a setting on the EV charger which prevents battery discharge to EV. I'll see if it works when the charger is off.

No discharge at the requested times, but this is the first time I've tried this while the EV was charging and it was set to not discharge to battery, so I've changed that and will see if it works. I'll leave all this here in case anyone else has it.
