IOG auto 100% for smart charging

Appreciate this might be a bit of a niche request but, I've got WW set to use auto charge rate for IOG, which works really well for normal 23:30-05:30 charging, putting less strain on the batteries/inverter and accounts nicely for the slow down after 90% and typically my batteries finish charging around 05:15.

Recently, however, I've noticed Octopus doing weird things with the charging schedule, notably something happens at 05:56 when the schedule gets interrupted/changed and a couple of times this has left me short of 100% in the GE batteries.
This is not at WW fault, as you're picking up the schedule changes.

The problem is, the schedule has been shortened, so the original adaptive rate no longer meets the required SoC requested.

Now, I know I could work around this by asking Octopus for more charge, changing the ready by time, manually switching to 100% rate in we but, if this could be automated it means I don't have to remember.

FYI, I'm using charger integration with IOG, so they have no idea what the EV SoC i and last night the car didn't quite finish charging.

What does anyone else think?

We are adjusting the charge rate based on the slot being given or shortened by Octopus.

admin I had a feeling I might do a p!$$ poor job of explaining this.

So, the issue is entirely created by Octopus, with WW doing a sterling job of trying to keep up but having its shoe laces tied at the last minute.

The original schedule I got for EV charging was 23:00-06:30 with no breaks, but this changed around 22:00 to 23:30-06:30.
WW tracked this and set the charging with a rate of 72%. So far so good.
At some point during the night, Octopus split the schedule, with a slot showing from 05:30-06:30. Once again WW picked this up with aplomb and adapted accordingly.
Unfortunately, the killer blow comes when, at 05:56, Octopus chops the schedule short with a new finish time of 06:00, tragically reducing the charging for the house batteries by half an hour, with no notice, and despite the best efforts of WW setting the adaptive rate to 100%, alas, it's too late, my goose is cooked, I end the night with only 95% battery, just as the ASHP kicks in. Oh woe is me.

Anyway, if/when WW detects a smart charge signal from Octopus, is there a way we can it auto set the charge rate to 100%, as opposed to using adaptive the rest of the time, so I don't have to pay attention to what the cephalopod is doing? :D

The problem is that this instruction/update from Octopus was likely sent a 05:55 or 05:56. By which time it is already too late if a schedule is cut short.

We poll around once a minute, and some changes may also go the other way, increasing the end time of your slot.

I'm concerned we'd be making corrections for one scenario but making it worse for the other half of the coin, if you see what I mean.

admin Aha! But, what I'm trying to do is differentiate between a "standard" overnight charge on IOG ie.23:30-05:30, where I'd like to use "Auto charge rate", and any/all smart EV charging scheduled by Octopus, where I'd like to charge at 100% rate.
That way, if Octopus do mess around with the schedule, particularly chopping it short, it doesn't really matter because the batteries are already charging at max speed.
From my original example above, if the first instruction sent by WW had been "charge rate of 100%", instead of 72%, the 2 subsequent instructions wouldn't have been an issue because my batteries would already have been full.

MrMessy Righty ho, I get you, yeah, think this was mentioned before. So basically, two adjust charge rate toggles. One for default IOG window. And one for 'bonus slots' outside.

In fact, better to simply override on our side to use 100% for bonus slots.

It would mean that if you get a 22:00-07:00, we'd use 100%. Maybe it should be based on length of the slot. If the assigned IOG slot is over 3 hours, use auto-adjust charge rate (provided the user has it toggled on), anything less, ignore and use 100% charge rate.

MrMessy Thanks for that, we're deploying this now actually, should be there in 5 mins. Doesn't require front-end update, just server side, so you won't see version update on the app.

Basically, the logic that has been applied for IOG is:

If you have Adjust Charge rate set to On:

This charge rate adjustment will be applied to charge periods > 90 mins long. For charge periods <=90 mins, the Adjust Charge rate setting will be ignored, and charge rate will be set to 100% instead.

Will let you know over the next week or so. Kind off depends what Octopus do with charging slots to see how effective it is.

Oddly, I've seen a few FB posts recently with other people mentioning changes from Octopus at 05:56, which has only started happening in the last week or so. I might do a bit more digging to see if there's a pattern.
