I note you have a very useful setting to always charge when a slot is below a certain amount.

It would also be good to have a setting to never charge when a slot is above a certain amount. So pick the 10 highest slots but don’t bother if the rate is above 22p. The reason I ask this is I’m trying to balance solar in the afternoon with the amount of energy I need for the peak period and this amount climes can vary according to what the prices are. So if I have to charge at say 25p all afternoon then I would rather not bother charging and just see the peak period through with a lower charge.

The problem I’m trying to get around is an afternoon like this one where there are some slots above 25p and yet later in the evening there are some cheaper slots. I would rather ignore these 25p slots and then see out the peak period with a lower battery.

Davey5678 Hmm, would be useful to get an idea of how many users would be interested in this functionality.

So regardless of cheapest say 5 number of slots in an Agile charge window, if they're all above 22p, don't select them for charging. Or perhaps only select 2 if 2 of them are under 22p.

As you see on my other thread I am also trying not to use these expensive slots by holding charge in the battery if it could be more useful for a later even more expensive slot.

I would never want to charge during the evening peak - that's typically the most expensive 6 slots in a day. Also pretty much I don't want to charge in the lower morning peak of 4 slots as there are generally better slots later in the day for charging. So I would probably use a setting that I wouldn't use the top 10 slots in a day (possibly even as many as the top 20 slots in a day leaving 28 to choose from).

In addition I wouldn't want to charge if all the slots were expensive and similarly priced. I might as well run the house from the grid and not add the battery losses to the costs. So anything above say 25p would be a no-no.

Pretty sure this has been suggested before for Agile windows (I know I would like it) but don't think it has been suggested globally. It would sure be handy for Agile windows then I can set an overnight to fully charge the battery (regardless of predicted solar) unless the import cost is more than I would get back by exporting excess solar (eg. don't auto select if slot import price is over 14p).

johalareewi I guess it only really makes sense in the context of Agile charge windows. Anything outside is something that would be explicitly picked/selected.

admin I believe that I could make use of such a facility. I have been with WW for sometime with Flux and only joined the Agile bandwagon recently.
I have moved toward a regime similar to that which WindyMiller describes. I have spent my time in understanding how and when my imported energy is used and the costs. I have reflected the day as Solar 0800- 1600, Evening 1900-0000 and Morning 0000 - 0800. The peak period does not feature in the schedule. Breaking the day up in this way allows the most variable part of the day to be more easily adjusted. I am in the throes of trying to get the HOLD function to assist me in this.
The ability to have a trusted overnight import facility would be very useful but imagine that it would be no easy task

admin Is the test done when auto selecting slots or when the charge instruction is sent to the inverter? Basically, can I manually select slots that are over the max price and have them charge the battery?

johalareewi The check is done as part of the auto-selection process at 16:35 or whenever you Save changes to your Agile charge window - including setting it to active.

So you can indeed manually select slots that are higher, just be aware of the repopulation. So best to manually select up to 16:00.
