Hi all,
I have been looking at Wonderwatt and trying to figure out whether it will do what we need.
We have a Growatt solar PV + battery system, with East+West facing panels, currently using the standard Growatt Shinephone app to manage. We use the Octopus Flux tariff, which gives us a cheap window between 0200-0500, an expensive window 1600-1900, and standard rate the rest of the time.
At this time of year, the capacity of the battery is less than our daily usage, and PV input is fairly minimal. The important thing for us is to get to 1900 before the battery runs out so as to avoid importing power between 1600-1900. Currently the way we do that is to fully charge the battery between 0200-0500, then leave the system on "battery first" mode until 0800, which means breakfast usage goes straight from the grid and the battery stays at 100% until 0800.
This usually means the battery stays charged until after 1900, but it does depend on both the solar usage and our consumption during the day, and sometimes it doesn't quite make it. But equally, on a good day for solar we sometimes export some power during the day because the battery was already full. So it's a bit of a blunt instrument.
So my question is - can Wonderwatt help with this? At this time of year we will pretty much always need to fully charge the battery between 0200-0500, but what I would ideally like is some kind of system where it could monitor our usage and battery charge levels during the day, and if the battery gets to say 50%, then no more discharging is allowed until 1600. Is that something it can do?
Thank you,
Tom
