I though this was an interesting comparison for IOG.

This is my import/export last April, prior to using WW...

and now this April...

The SC is unchanged, and as you can see the day rate is fairly irrelevant for me, so the differences are the cheap rate was 7.5p/kWh and is now 7p/kWh, and last year my solar generated 664kWh, compared to 804kWh this year.

Last April I made a net profit of £25.12 (£27.96 if adjusted to 7p/kWh), compared to £79.72 this year.
Accounting for the difference in solar generation/export (140kWh, or £21.00), that's a net gain of £33.60 in one month through optimising charging and export using WW.

I'll say that again, WonderWatt has given me a net gain of £33.60 in one month.

The only way I can stay on the Agile tariff is with some sort of automation as doing it manually would quickly become very tiresome. WW has proved itself for me time and again. Without its help I'd probably be on the Flux tariff which, by my calculations, would mean I would be £314 worse off in a year. And I've already allowed for the WW subs in that.

WindyMiller that's quite an impressive result.
I agree with Agile quickly becoming tiresome. We were on it when we first had our solar and battery installed, and whilst it was fun for a while, I had no hesitation jumping to IOG once the Zappi joined the compatible list.

For me, the savings using WW are a slightly unexpected added bonus, and I'm not expecting them to continue at the same level, as I got better at managing our solar/battery export during last summer anyway. However, WW has now automated everything I was previously doing manually and making a better job of it with little or no effort from me, and that's worth the subscription in itself.

MrMessy Thanks. I'd be on IOG too if I had an EV.

My son gets better savings than me with his GE system as he is on IOG. Over the year he pays almost nothing for his electric and runs his car for 12,000 miles (not all charged at home) saving over £2000 a year on the standard variable tariff (what I call flexible in my data above).

With neither an EV nor a heat pump my choices are limited to Flux and Agile. But, due to my battery not quite carrying me between charging periods, Agile under WW control beats all the other tariffs over the whole year. Cosy is best in the winter as it has 3 charging periods but I don't have a heat pump.

WindyMiller we're in a similar position to your son, all electric and net zero energy bill for the year.

I don't understand why Octopus (and other suppliers) don't have decent battery (with or without solar) tariffs, or even just allow battery owners to access Cosy or similar. I think it's a missed opportunity to help green up and balance the grid demand.

I'm in the process of having a heat pump fitted sometime over the summer. Currently have gas CH / HW but we've just had a new kitchen fitted and took the opportunity to switch to an Induction Hob and stove.
I've analysed a full years gas usage, watched shed loads of videos and come to the conclusion that it should work really well for us. We don't have an electric car, or indeed any car at all, so can't take advantage of the Go tariff ( unfortunately, although my electric bicycle is legally classed as a vehicle it doesn't qualify )
I've decided to stick with Agile and WonderWatt when everything is up and running. I'll be starting with a blank slate so there will be lots of data to dig into.😁
