Charging stopped early.

Smart charging on IOG last night, but WW seems to have sent instructions to stop my GE batteries charging and hour early and short of the target %....

.... despite the activity log suggesting otherwise...

We were back very late/early, so by the time I plugged the car in, it was already gone 23:30 and the GE batteries were charging, I accidently restarted the inverter in my not very awake state, and also change the Pause Battery Start Time from 06:00 to 07:00 (I did refresh the field to check this had taken).

Just wondering if you have any insight as to where the issue may be?

MrMessy Yep, whilst at 5:00 you had a slot issued from 4:56-7:00, by the time 5:58 rolled around, the 6:00-7:00 AM slot had disappeared from the Octopus mapped slots, and none were mapped, which caused WW to send a stop instruction.

I wonder if Octopus have smarten up the smart charging recently, possibly related to the introduction of Intelligent Drive, to detect if no power is going through the charger?

I'm integrated via the Zappi, so Octopus have no way of knowing which EV is connected but, as you can see from the MyEnegi graph, the EV was full at just after 5am, so if they have tightened things up a bit, that would explain it.

More investigation required, me thinks, as this may alter my charging strategy over winter.

I'll give it another try tomorrow, and see what happens.

My experience with this over the past few days is consistent with your hypothesis. Like you, I'm integrated via a Zappi and may have to rethink how I benefit from 'bonus' slots.

Unfortunately, last night, I seem to have disproved it, or at least not provided any useful data to support it.
I set the same parameters, knowing full well the car would finish charging early, the only difference being I set my GE batteries to charge at 100% rather than Auto. This time there was no stop/shortening of the charge window from Octopus, or not that I can see from the WW instructions.

We can clearly see, the car finished charging at around 02:30

Guess I'll continue to monitor for a while to see if there's anything in this.

@admin could you check the despatch info from Octopus again for 27/5, please?

As you can see from this screenshot, Octopus think the charge window finished some time before 05:30...

I've never had an issue with Octopus billing before, so I'm wondering if the schedule was stopped at say 05:29:59, or some increment just after WW would have confirmed the HH.

MrMessy At 5 AM we had a charge slot from 4:56-7:00 AM from Octopus, and it was still active at 5:30ish AFAIK.

We disabled charging at 5:58 when no mapped slots were active at the Octopus API for you.

We'll add some more logging though, to make sure we capture a possible edge case.

admin there's definitely something odd going on.

As I said earlier, despite the actual charging clearly finishing early, I don't appear to have had a similar issue on Friday...

As an engineer, I'm not comfortable with unexplained/random, makes me glitch.🤪

MrMessy Yeah, same, let us know when you see any other oddities, we enabled full logging for your account atm, so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it.
