I’ve forgotten what WonderWatt does after resuming from pause mode

I have had my WW on pause for my intelligent Octopus Go schedules since April because with this sunny weather we’ve had in the West Midlands, I’ve not had to charge my batteries from the grid. That was until yesterday, when I unpaused them and WW gave me a charge up to my requested 80% overnight.

Looking at my Givenergy portal this morning I noticed that my schedule was still set to charge from 2330-0530. As my solar forecast for tomorrow is 20 kWh plus, I don’t need to charge tonight so I have paused my schedules again.

It’s now about 5 hours later and my Givenergy portal is still showing that it will charge tonight. Should I just remove tonight’s charge from Givenergy or does WW do a quick check before each charge to make sure that it is still required?

I’m sure I have done this last year but I can’t remember whether I need to do this or not!

Ibizan I don't know for certain, as I've not tested it, but I suspect the kill switch you need is to pause the IOG integration only here:

Then in the Giv app/portal, set the charge start/end times to 00:00

On a side note, I'm curious as to why you wouldn't want to charge to 100% every night and export all xs solar during the day. This is usually the most lucrative.

Possible reasons:
You're on FiT with deemed export, or
You have an potential generation in xs of your export limit, so you're trying to avoid clipping.

In that case, you're potential solution is to switch on smart charging, with a charg limit, here:

Then in the Giv portal, use "pause charge" for the morning (dependant on the orientation of your panels), and allow your battery to charge from xs for an hour either side of your peak generation.

MrMessy Thanks for the information. I ended up doing as you suggested - pausing IOG and changing the settings in the Givenergy portal which did the trick.

I am on the FIT so exporting isn’t a concern although I am looking into changing that but I still need a few more months of comparison data to see whether it would work for me.

Ibizan So, the potential problem you have with Pausing the IOG integration is, if your inverter can "see" the EV, you could end up dumping your house battery into the EV, which is counter productive.

An better/alternative solution, is probably to leave IOG on, and use the smart charging. Something like this...

For the "Charge at least", pick something that's sufficient to see you through until there's enough solar.

MrMessy Thanks Mr Messy. There’s no danger of the battery charging the EV as they are on different circuits and can’t talk to each other! I’m quite happy with my system as it is. I just think I can recall doing a similar thing as I did earlier this week. I.e. turned on IOG schedules and WW set a schedule of 2330-0530 as usual. Once that charge had taken place, WW added the same hours to a schedule for the following night. The next day’s solar forecast was high so I didn’t need to charge the batteries that night, so I paused the IOG again. At a time before the now unwanted schedule occurred (as this where my memory is hazy) I thought WW might remove the instruction to start the schedule that night and pass that to Givenergy to reset my Timed Charge to 0000-0000. So I was just after some confirmation of whether that process would take place. I mean it’s not a huge problem to have to do that myself, but if WW does that, then I wouldn’t need to! Also I wouldn’t have to stay up past my bedtime to check that Givenergy wasn’t going to charge.
