1) Yes. WW pulls the slot info from the Octopus API. As the slots are dynamic and could change when you're not looking (sneaky buggers), WW requests this info frequently (every 5 mins I think), and makes changes as necessary.

2) Yes. Any 1/2hr slot that has a schedule in in, even for only 1 minute, will be charged at 7p/kWh
eg. schedule for 09:59-10:01, would have 09:30-10:30 billed at 7p/kWh

3) HOLD means your battery will neither charge nor discharge during the active period.
ACTIVE you need to toggle ON, assuming you want WW to manage your battery during any IOG periods, I don't know why you wouldn't.

As you're in the middle of a charging period, ALL electric will be coming from the grid (at 7p/kWh).

This is how mine is set (I think this is what you're after from reading your posts), the EV isn't plugged in atm, so just the default hours showing.

I also have an EV.

Could you explain what you mean by this and what difference would be seen if the EV is plugged in?

Hi Rusty,

If you Pause / Hold your battery then in will NOT discharge to your EV or Anywhere else during the set period involved, therefore house load is being met from the Grid. Check your settings in the Portal to confirm what your current settings are at any given time when you think your system is misbehaving. I know it all seems daunting at first but you will get used to it, and in a few weeks it becomes second nature.

rustypole Whenever your EV is not plugged in - like @MrMessy above - then you are still allocated the default IOG hours by Octopus [currently 23:30 - 05:30] and that will show on your WonderWatt [WW] portal >> Octopus > Intelligent page.
Plugging in your EV will not necessarily change that, unless Octopus decides through its system to allocate you an additional charging slot to balance the system as it sees fit. This new additional slot will be charged at the £0.07 / kWh rate as previously advised. However, it is not possible to both Charge AND Discharge the GivEnergy AIO at the same time. Therefore, when your slot is detected by the WW engine, your additional EV charging slot is also allocated to your GivEnergy setup - you can see this clearly in the GivEnergy portal, or on the mobile app. This will, however, be most definitely pulling electricity from the grid.... which is actually desired. The alternative would be for your EV to drain your AIO and that would be bad.... and the very reason to use WW to avoid such scenarios. Hopefully, this all makes sense.

Hi All,

Over the past three days on Intelligent Octopus Go, I’ve noticed an unusually high number of Planned Intelligent charge slots....almost every hour, including peak demand times like 4:30–6:30 PM.

My concern is, if the dynamic slots exist at peak hours my schedule to export won't run.

Are these slots accurate and based on real-time conditions?
Also, is there a way to confirm their validity directly with Octopus?

rustypole We get these smart charges straight from the Octopus API. You should also see these mapped charges in your Octopus app.

Hi, I've just gone onto the IOG and discovered exactly what you suggested. My export at peak time fails because

"has/will have active Intelligent Octopus schedule in next few mins - skipping export schedule"

For me it is. Today (Monday 24th) for example, I’ve noticed that nearly all day long I’m getting these Planned Intelligent charge slots, even during what I’d expect to be peak times like 16:30–18:30. As previously explained, this prevents my planned export from running.
It seems my AIO battery charges, stays charged, and instead of being used as intended, I’m almost always on some planned intelligent charge slot.
Does anybody know if these slots are genuinely based on real-time conditions? And is there any way to confirm their validity directly with Octopus?

Given the darker days, calm winds, and increased grid demand during these gloomy periods, it’s hard to believe there’s genuinely surplus energy available to provide authentic cheap slots.
