Stopping the battery discharging to the grid on a dull day.

I'm trying to set up our system using wonder watt. We are on octopus Flux import so we have cheaper electricity from 2 - 5 am and very expensive electricity from 4 - 7 pm So far charging the battery at night is working well. However I want to top the battery up in the afternoon when it hasn't been sunny so we have enough to last over the expensive period. I've out it on smart charge and asked it to charge to 60%. between 1 - 4pm. I'm a bit alarmed to see that the we are currently exporting power when the battery is only at 48% Should I not have toggled the smart charge? Thanks

Unsure what you mean by exporting power? Presumably you've not set up an export schedule and perhaps you're actually referring to the minimal amount of watts that you can see going to the grid?

If so, that's how inverters work, they are 'reactive' and a small trickle either grid side or import is to be expected.

Have you got any export schedules configured in Wonder Watt?

Thank you for your reply. No I have no export schedules set up. I do now understand that there are reactive moments and that is what I am seeing, and that the inverter only updates every 5 minutes.

I'm assuming that I will automatically export when the battery hits 100%, which we haven't done yet as it hasn't been sunny enough and I probably bought too much battery for the size of our solar array! My error.

so is it charging you battery a little whilst exporting at the same time ?
if so, where are the batteries and what temperature might they have been ?

when they are cold they may only take a small charge, the other week during that cold spell, our batteries were down to about 5ºC and they were only charging at 1kw (when it is warm they charge at 4kw)

Notice, solar at 5.7, Eporting 4.1 and battery only charging at 0.99kw
when the batteries started to warm and temp got above 5 it started to charge at 2kw
