SilverArt It's important to understand that we started with Growatt.
Unlike Growatt, a lot of GivEnergy's settings are inconsistent and messy and there are issues with reverting back to previous settings prior to schedules that have been set up. Outside of WW that is.
Growatt for example, allows charge rate to be set as part of a charge schedule. It automatically sets it back at the inverter level after the schedule finishes. Same with a stop target % with an export schedule.
This presents a problem for us. And has been obvious since we started supporting GivEnergy. Things like resetting Eco-mode back for instance, after an export/forced discharge window, which we addressed, effectively plugging a shortcoming in GivEnergy's offering.
Sure, our aim is to plug some of the gaps and offer a good service that adds value. But we need to do this in such a manner that it can be generalised and is useful across the board, rather than build a Frankenstein that grows arms and legs and becomes hard to maintain and extend.
In terms of the specific scenario we are talking about here, back to max charge rate after a scheduled charge window makes the most sense. We will undoubtedly implement some snapshot feature at some stage, just not high priority atm.
Summarising, our aim is to keep supporting multiple inverter manufacturers and implement functionality for their users that gives them granular and smart control over charge and export schedules.
So please keep the feedback coming. Without your input, we can't improve. :-)
Next up: multiple (more than 2!) schedules and Octopus Agile integration!
