Part of the problem might be that the actual maximum charge rate with my gen 1 inverter is 2.42kw, rather than the 2.6kw stated in the GE software. I assume this is due to losses.
Previously WW would simply ‘charge at full power’ which filled the approx 9.6kwh battery from empty to 100pct in exactly my 4 hour window at a rate of 2.42kw.
Now when it tries to do the same it charges at 2.31kw resulting a charge around 95-98pct. So this may be because the charging calculation has not accounted for losses.
Scheduling ‘Timed Charge’ in the GE portal charges at full rate of 2.42kw.
I have tried testing this by overstating the battery capacity as 10.3 kWh and setting the schedule to start within a couple of minutes, but the scheduling commands are not being received by the inverter. Will continue to troubleshoot this.
Assuming I can get it working at all, I guess I need to overstate my consumption too for the smart charging to work. It is currently understated to work around a different bug (if empty then charges to 100pct regardless of forecast). And in the export season it will need to be corrected to prevent over-exporting.
It would be a lot more convenient if there was a toggle to allow charge at full power, so that it ‘just works’ as it did before.
