Just had this pointed out from one of the Octopus Facebook groups and very interested. What I can't find anywhere is what the basic setup requirements I need.
Firstly my system:
6kW Solar with GIV-AC3.0 Inverter, 9.5kW GuvEnergy Battery, also have the myenergi Eddi and Zappi (Not got an EV yet). I have also just had an ASHP + radiators installed. (Don't really know what my electricity usage will be in the winter). No GAS connected.
Tariiffs on: Octopus Agile & Octopus Outgoing Fix 12M

  1. What hardware (PC?) and information do I require to run this (API Key etc)? Does it need to be on 24/7?
  2. I have a mini PC Windows 11, 512GB Hard Drive. This is on 24/7 as I run a weather station and sunshine recorder on it.
  3. Does it connect to the Inverter via WiFi?
  4. Currently I just manually setup the battery to charge using just the one basic slot on the GivEnergy App (Either via phone or desktop).
Do I have to change any settings on the GivEnergy Inverter?
  5. I have read that you can just turn on/off 'wonder watt'.? I'm thinking maybe in the summer the solar/battery holds it own.

Many thanks

Keith Hi Keith, thanks for your interest.

1,2&3 - you don't need any hardware, WW communicates directly with the Giv cloud API, and your inverter will need to be online (on Wifi) yes.

4 - we overwrite only the first charge or discharge slot. Main thing to keep an eye out for is accidental overlapping slots that will result in failures.

5 - Yeah, you can use our Pause Schedules function, which will pause all and any automations you have setup with us.

admin Thank you for you quick reply, it sounds pretty straight forward. :-)

      Many thanks

admin Going through settings on Wonder Watt via my Gmail login and have then gone onto my GivEnergy portal, under Account Settings, Manage Account Security and then 'GivEnergy API Key' Generate API Token > Token Name? Is this name fixed somewhere or can it be anything I want to call it?

      Many thanks

      Keith (Southend)

Keith I also assume you need to giv Full Control over everything available on the API App?

        :-)

Keith or can it be anything I want to call it

Yes, you can call it anything, but it makes sense to call it something like 'WW integration' or such, so you know which service the key was for and you can revoke and know what is affected.

Best practice is to create separate keys for different integrations.

admin I think I have it all setup now. I have charge slots during today, but of course being a sunny day the Battery is already 100%. In the schedule I chose the times from 22:00 to 06:00, does that sound right? Although slots this afternoon seem to show active. Come the winter I guess 22:00 to 16:00 to avoid the peak period, although I'd imagine being high price time it would anyway. I'll read a few more of the post on the community then hopefully I'll get my head around it better. This looks a super app. Thank you for you time.🌞

Keith Success for the half hour window I set up last night. Brilliant app 👍
