DWD OK so I used your service last autumn/winter and it was reasonable and made charging my battery during winter more efficient and less hassle I guess. However, I haven't used it since March as no need and won't really need to use it until later this month or early October.
That's why we offer a 3 month subscription.
DWD Appreciate your service was free up until now but I think you are vastly overpricing the product. You are proposing to charge £5.33/£6pm or £64pa and I just don't see the value. The service you supply is convenient not money making and staying with you will cost me money when I can set my Inverter to charge overnight manually and if I overcook it then the export is the same price as overnight import so no loss there (Octopus Flux).
The old adage "time is money" applies here. Especially for people on Agile, but also Growatt users tweaking schedules, it's reasonable to suggest that our offering saves people 5 mins per day. On top of that we proportionally adjust charge rates dynamically, which improves battery lifetimes.
When you work the 5 mins saving per day out per month, it's 2.5 hours saved. At £5.33 a month, you are effectively paying/saving yourself an hourly fee of just over £2. Roughly 5 times less than minimum wage. My time and plenty of other users' time is worth more than that.
DWD If your charge was one off or £10pa I might consider it worth it but I'm afraid you are going to loose most of your customer base at this rate.
A one-off payment does not make sense for continuous costs that are spent on cloud and DB hosting, weather API calls, diagnostics logging and storage etc. Also, £10 per annum doesn't even recoup our costs.
We may actually introduce an annual plan, which offers a 30% discount on on the £6 p/m, which could bring the costs down to around £4 p/m, but that may not be of interest to you if you're merely 'considering' a sub at only £10 per annum.
Thanks for your feedback.
