Can you tell us about it first, so I know how you're going to charge the battery under what circumstances... For instance, I would suspect per half hour depending on the price of the input at that time, charging at the lowest prices during the day and making sure there is enough charge in battery for the peak time. That means charging perhaps many times during the day to get the absolute lowest tariffs. That will then look something like this - the reason they're greyed out is because the time is in the past: [URL=https://i.imgur.com/U5CcBmX.png][IMG]https://i.imgur.com/U5CcBmXh.png[/IMG][/URL] Which means 4 separate charge slots would be sent to the inverter prior to the start time of each of those 4 contiguous blocks. You can also easily select and deselect slots and Save your changes for scheduling. Does that make sense?

So I tried again after resetting everything to default on the giv portal. I still get inverter timeout with WW settings. Have tried with an alternative site doing same thing and no issue with inverter timeouts and seems to be working ok.

Have you set up the WW API settings like this in the giv-energy portal?

Gazzagreen not even sure where to find that! I’ve just copied the API generated on the portal. WW managed one successful slot overnight so presuming the API token worked, but not sure what’s causing the inverter timeouts which stopped the rest. As it works with an alternative site I’m guessing it’s not permission related. My inverter is also Ethernet connected to a high speed full fibre internet connection so again shouldn’t be a connectivity issue either.

Capt_Rich The other integration/site you are using might not use the same API call? For charge schedules we are using the presets/ endpoint.

Specifically, preset 1, the charge schedule:

Can you try to issue that command using Postman and put your API key in the Authorisation header?

And your inverter serial as a parameter in the Params?

If you run that a few times, I wonder how many of of 10 times you will get the Timeout.

Another successful overnight charge from Wonder Watt. Checking this morning I noticed that commencing with the scheduled 03:30 charging slot my home demand leapt up to 3kWh for about an hour. I was mystified and started digging around. The culprit turned out to be the Smart Life automation on my Immersion heater that I'd set to take advantage of last Thurdays negative pricing event and forgot to cancel, so although I'd set the immersion controller to " Off " in the app, the Smart Life scheduler had kicked in and re enabled it.

Also a successful charge last night for me after some changes made by Admin to the way instructions are sent to giv inverters which seems to have cleared my issues above. The support here is excellent. Thank you.

Capt_Rich I'm glad it's resolved your issues and it's probably better for everyone that we've moved away from the problematic Giv presets.

I've just noticed that you have started to send commands to turn AC charging OFF at the end of the session which I can't see happening in my logs before.

Any reason?

DaveM Yep - we don't want to leave this on after a charge schedule has finished.

Any subsequent charge schedule will enable this again.

Does that not work for you?

admin I normally just leave it on and either change the times directly on GivEnergy portal or via WW. It was mainly a question of "is this meant to happen" given you've changed away from using API presets and it didn't happen then (nor is it logged in the WW Activity Log).

We had requests asking to disable it, which probably makes sense in most cases.

Let's see how you find it, and if there's a really good reason to leave it on at the end of a charge window - we might need to make this an option for users.

New here, so please accept my apologies if this is a stupid or repeat question …

I see how Wonderwatt allows me to charge my battery to take advantage of the lowest rates. However, I would also like to retain that charge and only use it when import is at a high rate.

At present I see that as soon as the battery charging time slot ends, the battery will start to discharge.

I can overcome this by manually extending the automatically selected charging period until the time I want to discharge, but I would need to do this every day. Will Wonderwatt be able to automate this ?

Yeah we will be looking to add this, so during your Agile Octopus charge window, you could indicate whether you want to keep your battery 'on hold' in the half-hour slots where you're not charging, is that correct?

Additionally, we may also explore to create a separate 'Battery hold' schedule as an additional 'Schedule type' in the Schedules section.

Yes, either or both these would be good. But just as you automatically select cheap rates for charging, so it would be good to automatically select the most expensive rates for discharging.

As an example, for my schedule tomorrow, I will have completed charging by 4.30, but don't want to discharge until 7.30. Then I would recharge later in the morning at a lower rate and hold until 16.30 when the rate peaks.

Not sure that currently requires the need for ever changing/dynamic export slots? I might be missing something obvious. Unless you're saying between that peak 3 hour period (6 30 min slots), and depending on battery capacity and discharge rate, if you dump at full rate, you may be done in 2 hours, which means WW could pick the 4 most expensive slots for export?

Could we use the Agile import rate price to determine the higher Agile export? I suppose there's a direct correlation...

I was thinking of self-consumption rather than export. Imagine for example I have a fully charged battery at noon, and no solar generation expected. I would rather consume from the grid until 16.30 and only use my battery after that time, when import is at its peak rate. This requires charging to be maintained from noon till 16.30 to prevent earlier discharge.

Another way of looking at it is that I should be charging my battery (or maintaining it at 100%) in any slot where the import rate is lower than in the immediately subsequent slot (with caveats for expected solar generation and for expected consumption during the subsequent slots).

Mat Did you have any slots selected (or WW had) already? Or change the value to 9.8p after slots had been pre-selected by WW?

That probably explained why the slots were not touched, going forward this should be applied when the new rates are available.

You highlight a good point though, we probably should go through the slots and apply that rule anyway, and add the ones that meet the criteria.

I think your right that the best time to force a discharge is between 4pm and 7pm and that the export schedule is OK for this. If your battery is 100% during a sunny day, then you will export automatically anyway.

When you are exporting regularly like this, then is it not time to be on the FLUX tariff, not agile.

admin I had nothing selected prior to changing the min to 9.8p as I do ad hoc charging everyday. The selection of individual 'tiles' worked well for me the other day but I thought I'd give the min pence thing a try so I could leave a value set and potentially leave it
