Can you tell us about it first, so I know how you're going to charge the battery under what circumstances... For instance, I would suspect per half hour depending on the price of the input at that time, charging at the lowest prices during the day and making sure there is enough charge in battery for the peak time. That means charging perhaps many times during the day to get the absolute lowest tariffs. That will then look something like this - the reason they're greyed out is because the time is in the past: [URL=https://i.imgur.com/U5CcBmX.png][IMG]https://i.imgur.com/U5CcBmXh.png[/IMG][/URL] Which means 4 separate charge slots would be sent to the inverter prior to the start time of each of those 4 contiguous blocks. You can also easily select and deselect slots and Save your changes for scheduling. Does that make sense?

Been on the beta for a few days and loving how easy it is (once I’d worked out the difference between standard schedules and agile schedules). I would second the request to force my inverter to charge whenever we have plunge pricing (also an option to set your own value eg force charge below 5p pr whatever I specify).

What about an automatic forced export whenever Octopus run a saving session now that we get paid for this???

First night on the agile Beta, worked perfectly.
For others, I assumed that Agile would replace the standard scheduling page so deleted my inputs there which appears to have been correct though I might have been able to keep them in the ‘off’ position? Not an issue as in the past I had to alter my schedules most days anyway.

I will use Agile for charging and set up exports in the scheduling section.

One thing I do not understand is what the ‘30 minute slots’ number input is for? I arbitrarily put in ‘12’, but only set up 9 half hour blocks.
Might be worth creating an idiots guide sticky?

I have 6 overnight slots as I thought that spreading them out would help maintain battery temperature during the current cold spell. I think that WW must reset the charge level to 6kW as my battery tends to charge at full pelt and fills up then ignores the latter slots.
I'd add a vote for an " Idiot's Guide ", there are things that with experience seem obvious now, but which I found puzzling when I first started using WW.

Pourl I think if you select too many slots you will simply front load your charge. So if you choose a three hour period and six slots your inverter will charge until it is full and the later slots will just top up any usage by the house. If on the other hand you chose three slots then it would be able to pick and choose the cheaper ones.

I can charge my battery fully within a couple of hours so by only choosing four slots between 1300 and 1600 I know I will get the four cheapest. In the summer I can probably reduce the number of slots further…

That’s my working theory at the moment. I agree that a more comprehensive FAQ would be good…

Pourl Ah right, yeah the 30 min slots is basically for allowing WW to automatically pre-select a number of cheapest half hour slots for you.

So if you selected 12, you will get 6 hours worth of cheapest charge slots if they fit into your specified charge window.

You didn't see this in action as I presume you set it up after 16:15 yesterday.

We have put a 'fix' in to address this. First time users that set up Agile Octopus after 16:15 and do not manually select any 30 min slots, will have theirs automatically pre-selected at around 11PM now.

And of course you can still tweak for today if you think you need an extra slot or two prior to 16:00-19:00, you just select them on an ad-hoc basis and Save.

Gazzagreen Yep, correct. It will only get pre-selected/set shortly after the prices for tomorrow are available, so around 16:15 (after we import the prices and run some functions).

You can then decide to leave the selection as is or tweak it.

Thought I'd mention what a great utility the free " Inverter " App from bbcbasic.co.uk.
Love the interface, being really really old it brings to mind the days of the BBC home computer. I installed it on a very old iPad and have it on the sideboard displaying the information from my system. The display is animated and it can be quite hypnotic watching it constantly updating

So last night on my agile schedule… five discreet blocks but no command was sent for the 0230 block? There is nothing in the activity log for this block despite it still being shown on my schedule (greyed out) this morning.

Also the previous night (15/01) on the activity log I have one slot instruction that came back with “failed to set inverter schedule for Agile slot”?

Any ideas why these two issues have occurred. Otherwise working well and seems an easy way to set schedules.

Yep, there was an issue rolling out some additional functionality (for Agile Octopus window) early this morning which caused the hiccup at 2:30. Shouldn't happen again, apologies.

So it looks like we simply got an error response back from the Growatt web API: {"msg":"inv_set_mix_lost","success":false} where it couldn't set the inverter by the looks of things.

Have any of you discovered what the new functionality is yet?

That is really helpful as sometimes the last one or two slots I want in the afternoon might be slightly pricier and I am still getting solar input … if my battery is already at say 90% I can automatically opt out…

One thing to note though, is that because adjacent slots are condensed together as one, the condition is only evaluated at the beginning of a condensed compound window which may span multiple adjacent 30 min slots.

So a logical extension to that might be the ability to have the SOC option on some sort of sliding scale to rise as you progress through the slots

Eg I select four slots: slot 1 only if below 60%; slot 2 if below 70%, slot 3 80%, slot 4 90%… figures pulled out of the air just as an example,

Alternatively, maybe just a target rate % to reach for the window.

As long as people would be fine that some of the home demand during those cheaper slots would be met by grid and battery would effectively be on hold.

Yes, a target rate for each window would be a better way of thinking about it - could that also involve the predicted solar during that slot??? Although you might then get complaints that ‘there was a cloud hovering over my house and my batteries didn’t fully charge’ !! And I agree that it could end up getting too unwieldy and not be user friendly… some would love it whereas others would find it too involved…

Yea, I tend to like being in control of it so if there's something goes wrong, I am to blame and not some automation. All this extra is OK as long as it can be turned off for those that don't want it. Especially when we have to start paying for the features.
