  • WW and Solax ToU functionality

Hi

Recently Solax introduced the Time of Use functionality that allows you to set a fixed schedule of charge and discharge. I have been using this very well with my own setup. If I wanted to start using WW...what work mode shall I leave my Solax inverter to avoid any conflicts?

Thanks

michaelm Hi Michael, we assume it's set to Self-Use. Good point though, we probably should put it in that mode. We simply use the Force Charge Time start and end times and change that.

For forced discharge schedules in the Schedules section, we will put it into Manual and Forced Discharge at the start and disable it at the end of the forced discharge slot as specified in Wonder Watt.

Hi, to be fair you may not need to do anything.
Up until know I also used the Octopus R&D app to manually set some charge and discharge schedules for Saving Sessions. In those instances, the R&D app will just send a charge and discharge command and Solax was still on the TOU setting.

Once the session was complete, everything was back to normal. Not many people are comfortable with the ToU setting so may be easier to do nothing for now !!

Saying that they just released an update that makes them settings up easier.

Long story short, I think ToU and WW can peacefully coexist.

Thanks for adding me to the IOG beta. Looking forward to trying it. My WW Id is blind-poetry

Let me know if I can help with any Solax queries. I am reasonably technical.

My setup has the solar running through two Growatt solar string inverters (11.8kWp East, West and a tiny bit South) before getting to my Solax X1G4 battery charger so for now, I am just dealing with Solax for WW.

Just did my first test with IOG and it revert the battery back to Self Use rather than 'Enahnced ToU' as Solax calls it. The display on the inverter also says 'Normal' and Work Mode is set to Self Use.

However all that is OK as at this time of the year, i am only interested on the 23:30-05:30 off peak slot for charging rather than any fancy schedules. Perhaps in the summer i might be inclined to say discharge the battery in late evening if above a certain % due to a favourable export rate. I suppose i can set up a discharge/export schedule at that point on top of the default IOG ones?

      Thanks again

Yeah, so this will get picked up by WW's IOG mechanism anyway, regardless of whether you plug your EV in or not.

Yep, you absolutely can, though probably best not to have EV plugged in at the same time due to IOG issuing adhoc charge slots, which then could interfere with your export.

But for summer, quite common to have an export schedule from say 21:30-23:25 if battery % is greater than X.

Perfect - exactly what i thought the answer would be!

          Thank you
