Always charge (if possible) when cost is zero or negative (Agile)

Hi,

Can I request that a toggle be made available so that you can set your battery to always charge to 100% when electricity is cheaper than a set value per kWh (for me 0p)? I would value being able to ensure that when electricity is free or has negative charging my battery is charging fully rather than just to the the normal SOC pre-set for the relevant slot/charge window.

Please forgive my lack of understanding if this is already implemented under the Agile settings tab (for "Price Below") but if so, it isn't clear that the "normal" SOC value is overridden to 100%.

Andy This is already implemented behind the scenes. Any slots that are 0 or lower will automatically have the target SOC percentage overridden to 100%.

See below our diagnostics log to show that this happened a couple of days ago for users on Agile:

Andy This can be 'adjusted' on the Advanced Settings page. I have suggested previously this should be set in the charge window to see the affects it has on the charging slots on the same page, but not everyone agrees.

Hopefully this helps you to manage this 'pricing floor' for your setup

There is now a max price setting on the Agile window which can do this for you. If you set the window to select all the slots it will leave out the ones above the max price.

johalareewi yes, I was aware, which makes the Price Below field even less valid on the Advanced menu page....

KristianS The difference being that the price below is not contextual to Agile charge windows, in fact, only applies for slots outside, so you don’t miss out on free electrons during plunge pricing.

I guess my only challenge is that you have to switch back and forth between the two pages to try and balance when your charge slots may select slots that are before the plunge-priced slots so you have no capacity left in the battery to take advantage of the lower price.
That being said, I would always load the house on either slot because ultimately, the cost per day is driven down as a result.

I am hoping that the Agile window max price can be used with a negative value to create a few discharge slots when there is a big overnight plunge. It accepts a negative value so it looks promising.
