  • Smart Discharge options?

Is there a way as we are heading into brighter days, to force discharge of our battery say at 10pm everyday ONLY if the percentage charge is more than a certain %.

Last year i had created a daily schedule to export for 2 hours from 9:30to 11:30 everyday just before the daily Intelligent slot kicked in.

Of course you need to allow for car charges during that time so a variable along the lines of 'discharge for two hours at 9PM but dont discharge at the same time as charging the car'

Is this possible with today's version of software?

Thanks

Please scratch this post, i just clicked through to the schedules and realised there are parameters there to do just that!

michaelm It is indeed, simply create a Discharge Schedule in the Schedules section.

      Thanks

I had not activated the 'Active' option. Once i did the parameters showed up and all is well. Set one up just now though i imagine it will be a few weeks before it kicks off! Set the daily forecast to a min of 1 as i will be charging the battery everynight anyway so I will want the export to kick in regardless of forecast.

      Thanks!

        Are you on IOG?
I pretty much did a "how to" for this in the IOG thread, which may help you, starting here...

Some settings are specific to GivEnergy inverters, so you may or may not have an equivalent.
I fine tuned it a bit after that, to ensure I had an nearly empty battery at 23:29, and they're turned off at the moment.

MrMessy I've been following your guide for a while, and it works fine thanks👍 Just wondered though why you have the Smart Charging option set on the IOG schedule? I have mine set to charge to 100% every night, to maximise what I can export he next day, and it seems to be the best option for me..

J1m sorry for not getting back to you sooner, haven't been on for quite a while.

I flit between the 2 really. Currently I'm charging to 100% at full beans at every opportunity due to a very hungry ASHP, although I still have the export schedules set in case I overcook it. Smart charging takes precedence over user schedules, so there's no conflict.

In autumn/spring, I'm aiming to leave maybe 10% spare in the batteries to mop up any clipping from the solar (7.6kW array, 5kW hybrid inverter) which would otherwise be completely lost.

It doesn't always work, and I do wonder if it's worth the effort, but I hate to think of that solar is going to waste.
