I have a giv energy gen1 inverter, 9.5 kW battery, EDDI and Zappi to charge my EV. I am currently on Octopus Go and I usually limit the house battery charge to use the solar. I am considering moving to the intelligent version of go. As far as I understand WW will pick up any charge slots for the EV. My query is, if it's going to be sunny, can ww be set to hold the battery or limit the discharge during ev charge slots so I can make use of solar.

Thanks in advance

MrMessy I get the 8p per kw that Octopus go offers but I dont export much at all. My array can usually fill my house battery by 1pm from empty and then I usually get a couple of hours more before shading affects the output.

In response to my initial question, I believe I found the answer by searching all the previous discussions. I found the initial one where intelligent go was first started on WW. So it can be set just to hold charge.

I just have to work out if it's worth moving to IGo. I charge the car up to 3 times a week but need to see how much we put into it. (Only had the car a week) and would have to pay for automation like WW. I think it is just more beneficial on IGo.

Echostar 8p is/was Octopus Outgoing Lite, which they ditched about 6 months ago iirc, and allowed everyone on Go to switch over to 15p outgoing.
Regardless of what else you do, I would call them and get this sorted out first, and whilst you're at it get them to back calculate to whenever it changed and pay you the difference.

Regarding IOG, assuming you have a compatible EV or charger (a Zappi?), there's no reason not to switch, at which point there's no reason to charge either your EV or battery from solar as it makes more financial sense to do both at the 7p rate and allow any xs solar to be exported at 15p.

I would charge your battery to 100% every night, unless your solar output exceeds your G98/99/inverter export limit.

The benefits of WW are automated battery charging during IOG smart charging slots, smart discharging schedules for xs battery capacity, easy timed quick set charge/discharge (useful for Octopus saving sessions).
