Having had a few more requests (apologies for the delay), I've finally found time to create a quick spreadsheet for generating the data required for setting export schedules to maximise battery usage, and hopefully provide the most income. It's not very sophisticated, and I have a backup, so no real harm done, just a PIA. You only need to enter 4 pieces of info (5 if you want to change the end time) in the green cells, the rest is calculated. Having created as many schedules as you need, you should have something like this: [URL=https://imgapi.wonderwatt.com/i/vc2e7HI.png][IMG]https://imgapi.wonderwatt.com/i/vc2e7HIh.png[/IMG][/URL] Depending on how sunny it's been, and how much household consumption you've had, the schedules will either run or not based on the current battery SoC. However, by fully using the battery everyday, this should also reduce/eliminate SoC jumps (where the battery doesn't know how much charge it really has). On a good day, you'll end up with full battery utilisation, having maximised your export. Good luck! Disclaimer: I'm not a software specialist, IT guru, spreadsheet nerd. Don't shoot me if it doesn't work. You may get a small amount of grid draw between the last export and start of the cheap period, it will be a few pence, don't panic. If this bothers you, shorten the last period by 5 mins. If you're wondering why so many schedules, you have more granular control with a large number of short blocks compared to a smaller number of long blocks. Anyone with an AIO or plant setup may want to consider running 15 or 20 min slots, rather than the 30, to give the same level of control due to the higher discharge rates. Although designed for Intelligent Octopus Go, you could use with other tariffs but, check your import/export rates to see if it's worth it. * Link updated 19/06/25 now protected, so you must "make a copy"

@"stevek54"#p7889 you're welcome. I've tried to keep it as simple as possible, so it's probably not perfect. It's slightly on the cautious side compared to what I'm actually doing. However, once you've tried it and tested the output on your own system, it would be useful if you could let me know how it's gone, good, bad, or otherwise. I can then tweak it if necessary to improve things for others.

I’m new to export, today is the first day my new octopus export account is live, after an 18th month battle with Scottish Power to release me from the deemed export shackles. I’m keen to maximise the battery usage by exporting excess at the end of the day, and I have completed the spreadsheet, but I have some questions please. 1. What is the benefit of having multiple discharge slots, rather than one long dump at the end of the day? 2. How do you determine the optimal number of slots? 3. I’m on IOG. If Octopus schedule a charging slot during one of my discharge slots what will happen? Sorry if I’m being a bit thick, it’s all new to me! Thanks Chris

@"ChrisR"#p7898 ah yes, Scottish Power. Was with them once, never again. To answer your questions, my thought process was as follows: 1) multiple reasons, mainly: a) using SoC% to trigger an export if you're already below that level, the schedule doesn't run, so if you only have one slot you export nothing. b) if it does run and you hit the min early, you end up drawing from the grid for the rest of the evening. 2) it's just a calculation based on the max discharge rate and total battery capacity, split in to 30 min slots. 3) in my experience, charging will take priority. In summer, I tend to leave plugging the car in until late evening and try to extend the charging in the morning, finish at say 07:30. Obviously, if the car's charging, you've reduced your export potential. In the winter (with an ASHP), the more charging slots the merrier. Hope that helps a little.

I don’t know if the spreadsheet has got corrupted, or it’s just me doing it wrong, but it’s come up with a nonsense schedule, with 8 half hour slots commencing at 08.40, and ending with a near 10 hour slot ending at 23.20. MrMessy Yeah, really well thanks. I now have 11 discharge slots scheduled and it works seamlessly with no need for any further input from me.
My only niggle is on the early slots, where Solar is still generating. I discharge for 30 minutes, then the Solar gets diverted to recharge the battery, instead of exporting directly, which seems a bit inefficient to me?

Maybe just tighten up the schedule to leave a 5 rather than 10 minute gap between instructions. I wouldn't go less than 5, or you risk overlapping instructions being sent. Possibly even join some of the earlier ones together and drop the starting SoC a little.

Sounds like your setup is similar to mine, lots of battery and not enough inverter.

MrMessy AC 3. I guess there’s not the same control options you get with the later gen Hybrid Inverters?
But overall I’m very happy with the schedule, and appreciate the effort you have obviously put in to the spreadsheet. I might do a bit of minor tinkering over the coming days!

Any particular reason that for each slot you’re reserving half the start, rather than reserving the min SoC for the next slot? I can see that both SHOULD do the same thing, I’m just wanting to make sure I understand it all while I’m setting it up and doing some tweaking.

Hufggfg just a safety net in case of comms failure/interrupt, so you don't unexpectedly dump the whole battery.

Yes I loaded one yesterday using my own calcs based on learning from your sheet. All seemed to work ok. I’m thinking of how to tweak to make it more effective though, particularly with the gaps etc.

Am I right in thinking. If an IOG is scheduled during an export scheduled time, the export continues but goes towards charging the car and not exporting to the grid.

Seems to be happening today for a 10.30pm to 11pm IOG schedule and the export is going towards that charge.

In my experience, the Export will be cancelled and the Import + EV Charge will take precedent
