Hi, I only have 9 panels & a 9Kw Battery from Giv Energy. I am on Octopus Agile import and Flux Export.
£54 pa is a big chunk of my export benefit, I have subscribed for this year, I just have a few points to make.
My priority is using the Solar and battery as Home use priority, and very occasionally when the price is favourable export.
The subscription page states, my subscription ends next year 2025, is it not on Auto Renewal? If so I have to cancel it with my bank, or will you ask me before taking next year’s subs?
I still don’t understand some of the (pardon the terminology) ‘Geek Speak’ ie. in Advanced
Correction Factor?
Giv Energy..
Eco on Export?
Eco hold Off?

Is there an Idiots (like me) Guide somewhere on Acronyms, Terminology and How to… for Wonder Watt & Giv Energy and how they work together to my advantage?
Further, as a Giv Energy user is your time spent mostly on Giv Energy or Growatt?

In conclusion, as a class myself as a small user, with limited knowledge, I have paid for the next 12months to help keep wonder Watt alive. However, as I mostly use the battery charger facility during the winter expensive months, which is very helpful, and very, very occasionally scheduled export in summer less expensive times(even sometimes negative!!) plus paying for some things I don’t understand. I have to ask myself is £54pa value for money??? I will let you know in October 25!
Good luck
Best regards
John

    John Thanks for your sub!

John The subscription page states, my subscription ends next year 2025, is it not on Auto Renewal?

Auto-renewal is on by default via our Payment Provider. And will be automatically renewed. If you want it off, you can follow the 'Cancel Subscription' link at the bottom of your 'Wonder Watt Subscription' email. That will leave your subscription active for a year but will not automatically renew.

    John Correction Factor?

Used for 'Smart Charge' schedules. Currently not needed on Agile, but will become relevant with solar forecast integration for Agile.
We calculate the target SOC to reach based on solar forecast and current battery state of charge (SOC). This correction factor allows you to adjust that if you find that WW is over or under estimating the target SOC to reach.

    John Eco on Export?

Setting to leave Eco mode on during Export. More info in thread here: https://community.wonderwatt.com/d/453-givenergy-inverters-eco-doesnt-need-to-be-off-when-exporting

    John Eco hold Off?

On some Giv inverters, for a true 0 discharge, Eco needs to be turned to off, because setting discharge to 0 W still draws 300-400 watts here and there.

John Is there an Idiots (like me) Guide somewhere on Acronyms, Terminology and How to… for Wonder Watt & Giv Energy and how they work together to my advantage?

There's a ton of info on the forum, but just ask away, plenty of helpful users on here!

John Further, as a Giv Energy user is your time spent mostly on Giv Energy or Growatt?

Bit of both really, however, Growatt doesn't have a well published API unlike Giv, and lacks the type of granular control that Giv provides. Or you could search the release notes here: https://community.wonderwatt.com/d/96-wonder-watt-release-notes for the term 'Giv' to get an idea. ;-)

John I have to ask myself is £54pa value for money?

For most, it will depend on how much you value your time. If WW saves you time, even 5 mins a day compared to any alternative (and for Agile, that's likely a conservative guess), it saves you 2.5 hours per month. At £4.50 pm (annual sub), you're 'paying/saving' yourself £1.80 an hour for your time by not using WW.

Thanks again - let us know if you have any questions or feature requests!

John how are you on Agile import with Flux export?
Octopus will catch up eventually and back bill you the difference between Flux and Fixed Export.

Having procrastinated for 9 days I have decided that I'd miss not being part of the future of WW. On that basis £54 well spent IMO... and if I make some or all of that back due to the innovations and automations of the authors so much the better

*I can now relate to others finding the process of preventing recurring substitution daunting. Worked as WW described though.
