Quick solar yield forecast check function?

Do people think it would be handy to have a page where you can check Wonder Watt's predicted solar yield for tomorrow for your system? We'd likely limit this check to 5 or so times max per day due to weather API calls etc.

We could even give you your own HTTP endpoint for people that want to integrate this elsewhere.

I think that would be nice, but not essential if it increases your costs.

I would have leapt at the API option, if it weren't for the fact WW does everything I would want to do with that info :D

It is not essential. Use Your ressources on improving the prediction instead. At midnight, WW predicted +7 kWh, Suncast predicted 1.6 kWh. And we will probably end up with less than 1 kWh. But I know, in our climate it is not easy;-)

KISS for me, like what you are doing now and I have no reason to use that function.

I like the idea of my home battery status on the Agile page more, so i don't have to keep opening another app when deciding which slots to check, or uncheck. ;)

Not so much interested in the forecast itself (it is what is is) but to support export to grid in morning hours I would be interested to do that setting based on forecast of the day itself (will batteries be re-charged by sun later in the day) . So maybe a button or so in the set up of the schedule to base export in todays’s or tomorrow’s forecast , if that makes sense ?

Jorrit So there's already some logic for that baked in automatically.

The start time HH:mm determines whether the forecast is calculated for tomorrow or the current day.

If it's before 11:00 - we consider the calculation for the current day. After 11:00 - we consider the calculation to be tomorrow.

In other words, any charge or export window you have in the early hours of the morning, say 06:00-12:00 would automatically use the solar yield forecast calculation for the current day.

We could make this time HH:mm cut-off for today/tomorrow to be a user setting that can be configured in the Advanced section. Would prevent littering the schedules with some of this logic.

admin thanks for that clarification, that would make the current set up logical and perfectly fine for me, too many buttons will also confuse users maybe (?) , but a text clarification of the 11.00hrs change over could be helpful

I use this a lot on the GivEnergy web page (solcast). Even just a general trend so I know when’s going to be best for washing, etc.
Where can I find the predicted output people are referencing please? I only signed up yesterday, couldn’t find it in the faqs.

aniseedvan That's only the case for a Fixed charge schedule. For Smart charge schedules, we do calculate solar forecast and display this in the activity log, because we use it to dynamically determine how much to top the battery up to.

Would be interesting to have some indication since I have a split array over two sides of my roof, so the input into WW isn't going to be completely correct and will need a bit of manual tweaking to get a better result.

I think solar forecast is a great idea.

Also a PV forecast weighting (default 1.0) in the settings so we can make the forecast more optimistic or pessimistic if fine tuning is needed.

Do you use Solcast or Suncast for WW PV forecasting?
