I am currently evaluating Wonder Watt and came across the Inverter and Battery Settings in the advanced section. In the Advanced section of Wonder watt you have a Max Inverter Rate (Charge/Discharge) and Max Battery Rate Charge/Discharge setting that you can record. Why can't you record separate values for both Charge and Discharge for Inverter and Battery rates as they can be different. My GE inverters combined Dual AIO power is 12kWh in 12kWh out. However, I have a DNO limitation Outgoing of 9.5kWh. So it occurred to me that in Wonder Watt it would be better to record both Charge and Discharge Rates and not assume one size fits all. It also occurred to me that users may want to charge / discharge more rapidly or slowly depending on a given situation. Therefore in the section where you can create schedules it would be useful if you could optionally enter charge / Discharge Rates for each schedule that you are creating. One thing to note is that if like me you have a GE dual AIO setup then when Wonder watt sends the Battery Discharge Power = xxxx command to my system this command Does Not Work. However, the Discharge Power Percentage does work. So in settings section a field to record whether the system has dual AIO's would be useful to determine which command to send depending on the system type.

Is this guaranteed to work for any dual Giv AIO combo or is this possibly a firmware issue?

@"admin"#p8275 I don't know if its a bug or not but as I said Watts Value dosn't work Percentage does work on dual AIO's. I have an open support ticket ongoing at the moment on a issue so I will try to find out and let you know. and will you consider being able to specify a Charge / Discharge rate in the scheduler to speed up slow down specific schedules. I have been doing some tests and I get more out of the discharges if I run at around 50% max capacity. I just changed from Agile to Go and I cannot get IOG with the GE Charger and the MG car I own. However, If I could adjust schedule execution speeds I would be prepared to pay for that feature although 90% of Wonder Watt wouldn't be any use to me.

@"admin"#p8275 If I explain a little bit more why being able to set a charge rate in a schedule is useful. Having a dual AIO system is good if you want to import at 12kWH and is good for sucking up lots of KWh's in a short space of time. However, it can be a curse also. I have the GE EV charger which does not support dual AIO's so All the cloud settings such as "do not drain the batteries" do not work. Therefore if you are on GO like me you start a charge on the batteries at 00:30 and charge the batteries to 100%. Now unless I go into the portal and mess with the Battery Inverter Percentage setting in addition to the Start and End Time settings, the charge will commence at 12kWh, If the EV needs charging I will fire that up which adds another which because we are already charging will take power from the grid rather than the batteries. However this adds another 7.2kWH to the load, so now with the dual AIO's running at full chat along with the EV charger I am one kettle boil away from exceeding the 80amp Gateway Limit. I have done this and the Gateway crashes, shuts down, the house power goes off, and is a nightmare to get up and running again, a full afternoons job. So I would like a schedule called EV Charging Tonight it would run from 00:30 to 05:30 and I would set The Battery Inverter Percentage to 45% this would give enough power / time to fill my batteries from 10 to 100% and give me the headroom to charge the EV without getting anywhere near the Gateway limit. The beauty of this is that all the settings get set back after the schedule completes, something I always forget to do which is always costing me money. So If you can implement this request then I will subscribe just for that feature alone as it will be worth it for me.

@"admin"#p8275 Hi, So I have an answer from Givenergy regarding the Battery Charge Power and Battery Discharge Power command. They are NOT supported on dual AIO systems. The Gateway ignores the command and does not pass it on to the AIO's it's by design and not a software bug. Therefore in your Advanced section of Wonder watt you need to ask the question is you Givenergy battery an AIO. If yes then send the Battery Charge/Discharge Percentage values in your commands instead of the Battery Charge/Discharge Power watts values. So In summary in the Advanced section of Wonder watt Record if their battery is a AIO Users can add Battery Charge/Discharge Value and also Inverter Charge/Discharge Value or Record if the user has an AIO then only record a Battery Charge/Discharge Value Add a option in Schedules to record a per schedule Charge/Discharge value that overrides the advanced value. This gives significant per schedule flexibility to control the charge/discharge rates on a schedule by schedule basis. As I said above if you can implement the above I will instantly subscribe to a full year. As It will mean I only need one utility to control my battery system. Well worth it IMO.

duplada Hi Duplada, many thanks. So following your instructions I note that the GE EV Charger is currently set to Inverter Control. If I change this to Stanalone I assume I can still schedule the charging slots through the GE APP?

Steve1 yes the only thing that changes is the GE server can't control your EV charger which is what you want.

duplada Hi Duplada, so I tried again last night to charge the EV and Batteries. I set the EV Charger to Standalone. However, I still encountered the same issue - the EV charged at 7kWh (max capacity), however, the batteries only charged at around 5kWh (when both EV and batteries should be charging at 100%). So this morning my batteries were only charged to about 60% (and not 100% as required). It seems that the 12kWh limit set in the WW APP does limit the total import from the grid. I was hoping that I could set this to 18kWh - but the maximum is 15kWh - do you know why this setting is limited to 15kWh? So, as an experiment I will set the Battery charge/discharge rate to 15kWh to see if the batteries charge at about 8kWh when the EV is charging at 7kWh.

Hi Steve no I don't know why it is limited to 15kWh in WW that is a question for @admin.

My system on the face of it is set exactly as yours is 12kWH Inverter Rate in Advanced, EV charge set to Standalone with a 32amp limit (max) and a Gateway Limit set by GE to 80amps. On my system when I set the EV and battery to charge the EV charger runs @7kWh and the house batteries charge somewhere between 8 and 12kWH depending on house load, and the amount of solar being generated. You can see this from the Graphic I posted above. The Grid Import power is pinned to about 80amps 18kWh or so. I am beginning to think that GE has set your Gateway lower than 80amps. I would trawl through your Portal logs and look for the settings that GE set your Gateway to. I would also check for any server commands that are getting set and the Power commands set by WW when you execute a charge schedule. Something is not right here its just a case of finding what it is.

Any news on Inverter Rate modifications? Seems to be taking a while? I would give anything to be able to specify an Inverter rate in standard schedules, until we either get an Import and Export Inverter Rate in Advanced or In Schedule % rates I cannot run automatically all of the time. I am having to micromanage my Inverter Rate Setting in Advanced multiple times and have to remember to set them back which is a real pain.

duplada Hi Duplada, been in touch with GE (again) and they claim all ok at their end - so must be a WW issue. The reply I received was as follows;

As I have said before, the system is set to an 18kW import limit in the settings, but is operating as though the import limit is 12kW. As everything is set as it should be on the system, I think a setting on the wonderwatt API may be altering the charge rate of the units to keep things below 12kW.

Any further ideas?

Hi Steve, As I said before check the Portal Remote Control logs for the Limit that GE set and also check your logs for what WW is sending to your inverter when you are charging the EV and the batteries at the same time. It would be helpful if you posted a screen grab of you system graph during a charge session also.

duplada Hi Duplada, showing my ignorance - how do I check the Portal Remote Control Logs? I’ll be charging the EV and Batteries overnight. I’ll be setting the EV to charge at 23amps (rather than 32amps - as suggested by my installer) to see if the import is still limited to 12kWh (with about 5 to the EV and 7 to the Batteries).

duplada Hi Duplada, so I charged the EV overnight (with the current set at 23amps in the GE APP). The EV charged at 5kWh (as expected). The total import was limited to 12kWh (no change) so the batteries charged at a maximum of 7kWh (depending on the house load - we also have an ASHP).
GE have assured me that the 12kWh limit is not imposed by them (and that the total import should be 18kWh)
