I'm just ramping up to try the app in anger and last night was the first time trying to simulate what will happen n reality.
The timings all worked as I expected but from the "Charge instruction set: 92% target at charge rate of 67%" message I expected the battery to charge for the full period at a 67% charge rate whereas it actually charged at nearly the full charge rate. There is no sign of the c'harge rate' being received, could it have got lost somewhere?

SilverArt Now I'm using WW in real time it has also struck me that a daytime setting and a night-time setting would be useful for Battery Charge Power. At this time of year I need to grab all the solar I can, therefore need to go for 3kW charge rate in the day, however at night I only need a 2.1kW charge rate to fully charge the battery over the cheap TOU period if it were empty.
So question is. Could WW send a 'Charge power' instruction to a user specified level at say 8 in the evening and another one for a different level be sent at 8 in the morning... sort of thing.

In the absence of a dynamic solution It would certainly be kinder on the inverter and the battery rather then having to use full power by default.

SilverArt Multiple schedules are coming.

In terms of your charge power requirement, most of the Growatt inverters allow this to be set along with the charge schedules.

Giv does not. However, there is a global charge/discharge power setting for Giv that could be used. Our solution in the interim is to allow a stop charge percentage to be set (even though not supported by Giv) which we then use to finish the charge or discharge schedule early - effectively overriding the initial End time.

admin Doesn't help at all I'm afraid, what WW does it does very well by the look of it, the downside is unneccessary maximum charge rate time.

What I'm suggesting in the short term is that the user has the ability to set the 'Global Charge setting' from within WW twice a day, once to set a night-time setting and once to set a day-time one. In my case to achieve 80% from zero over my TOU period all I need is a charge rate of 1680W, however that is no good for daytime use at the moment where I need the 3000W charge rate to maximise solar capture.

True, in the longer term a more dynamic 'Charge Setting' based on the battery %, solar forecast and the target % would be even better. In the meantime I'll need to pursuade my poor old grey cells to remember to do it manually twice a day!

I hope I understand the discussion correctly, but I just want to point out that Giv does allow a stop charge percentage - see inverter settings:

I've tried it before and if you leave it at that 80% it will indeed stop at 80%. Of course you need to enable it and change the %-age.

SilverArt Having had a play for the last few days with the aim of always fully charging during my off-peak period I've decided that it is the way to go. I've also come to the conclusion that just setting the 'Charge Power' to 73% permanently is also probably sensible and saves me having to worry about setting/resetting it twice a day.
Things may change when the solar improves and/or when WW offers a more dynamic solution.

JMA Yep - we're aware it's a separate setting for Giv at least for Discharge/Export stop, just not as convenient than with Growatt where you can apply it as part of the export slot.

We are using the target charge percentage for Giv as well as for Growatt. What we don't currently do for Giv is to adjust the charge rate, again this is a separate setting and will resetting back, so a little more tricky.

JMA The challenge is that it still charges at a maximum rate 'til it hits the target. The reason for me wanting the 'Charge Power' to be active is that the batteries could be charged at a lower rate thereby keeping everything cooler - both inverter and batteries.
Ideally it should then be able to be reset to 100% for the day shift to get the maximum solar capture. However, at the moment that is academic as we're not seeing enough solar for me to worry about loosing a bit off the top to export. Even if it did it would gain me a few pennies in export earnings even allowing for the system overhead.
I can appreciate that the multiple slot scheduling is taking priority at present as that is the one thing that is sadly lacking in the Giv. options, however I can also see how the multiple slot scheduling could potentially fix this problem if time slot control is being managed by WW instead of Giv.
