Thank you for adding me. Interesting choice of initial settings. Definitely a solid MVP.
On the Hold option I'd like to see an expansion to:
Hold (no charging nor discharging)
Charge Only (so whenever IOG charge the EV they are also charging the battery BUT the battery is not discharging to service any load. The load being fed by the 7p IOG rate)
Discharge Auto Resume (a sub option of Charge Only. Facilitating the return to WW schedule post IOG event).
JayC Charge Only (so whenever IOG charge the EV they are also charging the battery BUT the battery is not discharging to service any load. The load being fed by the 7p IOG rate)
This already happens, unless I am misunderstanding you.
When you untick 'Hold charge', your battery will be charged to the level you set and kept that way, no discharge will happen when your battery is charging, so house load will be met by the 7p IOG grid rate.
At the end of the charge IOG slot, normal service resumes and your battery will be used to feed house load.
If this this not what you are experiencing, could you please detail your findings? Thanks!
Hi,
@admin Would you please clarify.
You say “if i want my battery to charge toggle to off”.
The text adjacent to the button reads “When the battery is on hold, it will not charge or discharge. Leave the 'Hold charge' toggle OFF if you want to charge you battery.”
My issue (and I believe a common one) is that if i do not Hold the battery it will discharge into the EV.
My ask is that for a version of Hold (Dis-Hold?) that prevents battery discharge yet allows charge during an IOG event.
JayC that is exactly what happens when you toggle hold to off. Instead of Hold, it will charge your battery during any IOG slot.
So neither Hold toggle On or Off will result in your battery discharging into your EV during an IOG slot.
Have you used and activated the IOG integration yet? I would be surprised if it doesn’t do what you want already.
moved onto IOG - can I be added to this beta please?

Ardvarky It would do, because the mapped slots fall inside your standard 23:30-5:30 default IOG off peak price window.
You get full off peak price during that window. So Octopus is being cheeky and only giving you a few mapped slots & controlling it. In theory you could charge your car every night between 23:30-5:30 on IOG.
It only takes a minute or two for us to pick up your mapped slots, but we consolidate them, especially if they fall within the default IOG window.
WW ID spiffy-point
I have occasionally seen that my battery is charging outside the 2330-0530 even when my car isn't actively charging. Seems like extra slots are being picked up.
I assume that these are valid extra slots allocated by Octopus and I will be charged at the off peak rate?
For example today I have a slot if 1100-1200 so my battery is charging.
Good morning,
Everything is going great so far. I have noticed a couple of things. Last night a charge event was triggered between 22:30 and 05:30 from the IOG section, this was correct as octopus gave me the hr before normal cheap rate. But looking at my givenergy settings the timed charge is still enabled for 22:30 - 05:30. Will WW pick this up and change the times back before this evening?
The second unrelated thing I have noticed is that I had auto charge rate enabled for the overnight charge a few days ago. But the next day this reduced charge rate was still set when the battery was charging from the solar. Is this normal?
Anyway, thank you for having me onboard.

If you check this page, it will tell you the next planned charge.
The default is IOG core cheap rate:
https://app.wonderwatt.com/intelli-octo
AFAIK the charge rate remains the same until the next charge session, when it's set again.
You can switch off adaptive rate and set to 100% if you like.
BTW you're generally better off financially charging batteries overnight at 7p and exporting all your solar at 15p, assuming you're not on FiT.
I use the "pause charge" in the Giv portal to do this, but it's not available on gen1 inverters.
MrMessy understood. But the issue as I see it is yesterday’s timed import from 22:30 is still active in the inverter settings. Tonight the iog import times are from 23:00. Therefore it looks like without my intervention, my battery will charge up for half an hour on the daytime rate. I was wondering if after the standard iog import finishes at 05:30 could the inverter import times be disabled until the next set of commands sets the times.
Woz86 The reduced charge during the day, after charging overnight shouldn't be happening. It never used to, but since upgrading my GivEnergy All-In-One firmware recently I've noticed this occurring too. It's very annoying as we're losing spare solar which could be going into the battery. I'm having to reset to maximum charge power in the app - although oddly enough, not today.
Also, the battery reserve keeps resetting to 4%.
I'm not sure if these issues are caused by Wonder Watt, or it's really a GivEnergy issue. Considering I only noticed it after the firmware update, I suspect a GivEnergy problem.
Ww doesnt seem to be picking up my slots outside of 23:30-05:30
Plugged in tonight and have 20:00-21:00
Similar happened lastnight.
Anything obvious wrong with my setting?
